Registered and Unregistered Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats
Dance+Riot Acres is dedicated to raising and breeding quality Nigerian Dwarf goats. We are constantly learning, growing and working hard to nurture and improve this amazing breed of dairy goat! Our overall goal is to create strong bloodlines through outstanding pedigrees, improve dairy lines as we can and weed out any potential problems or undesirable characteristics that might be present. We hope these breeding choices will create better overall genetic profiles and traits to pass on to future generations! This breed is productive, sweet, fun, and beautiful so we like to add a splash of color and friendliness into the mix as well! All of our Dams and Sires are registered through both through ADGA & AGS. Any registered goat purchased through us can be double registered as well. All unregistered goats can be purchased as wethers, pasture pets or companion animals without papers.
The Great Pyrenees: Livestock Guardian Dogs
One of the best ways to protect all of our livestock on the farm is to raise our favorite breed of guardian, the Great Pyrenees! These amazing dogs are not only beautiful and majestic; they are smart, loving, friendly and most of all, good at what the do! It is their job to keep all of the animals on the farm safe and they take that job very seriously. Whether it is as small as a bantam chick, a newborn kid or even as large as an adult Buck, these guys know how to keep them safe and warn us of any danger! All of our dogs are well socialized with young children as well as every breed of creature here on the farm from a young age so they are familiar and acquainted with them from the start! They are super energetic and friendly, great for families even if you don't have a farm or livestock to protect! They can be willful and headstrong, one of the traits that makes them so good at what they do; they are also semi-nocturnal so it is instinctual to bark at night while securing a perimeter. This makes training and spending quality time with each dog a must when acquiring one of our dogs. However, because of their loyalty, friendliness and devotion, you'll quickly find you have a 100 lb. lap dog on your hands! We do insist upon NOT spaying or neutering your dog from us until they are fully grown and mature. This is usually at about 2 years old for the Great Pyrenees. All of our Dogs are AKC Registered!
My Natural & Holistic Methods
At Dance+Riot Acres I believe in raising and breeding both goats and dogs and any other creature here on the farm using holistic practices. Nature is the most wonderful healer and there are so many options we can pursue to achieve wellness in our animals through this method! Whether it is a birth, an injury, an illness or a simple personality conflict; through my use of herbs, natural remedies, homemade salves, ointments, aromatherapy and simple cleanliness and healthy maintenance of the environment; I try to treat my animals with as little traditional intervention where antibiotics, standard drugs and medicines are concerned. When nature fails whether through my skill of use or the animal's response to treatment, I do of course turn to traditional medicine in order to protect my herd or litter and maintain the health, well being and vitality of all my beloved creatures! However, I have found that using natural methods is the best way to promote healing and prevent most illnesses, especially in my herd!
